Chanel Les Beiges Eau De Teint

I can’t even begin to express how much my daily makeup routine has changed in the past two years. Before I started working from home and wearing masks daily, I always opted for a full coverage foundation look with thick concealer and a heavy powder. I was so scared to let anybody see how terrible my skin really was. But then, when I started working from home, I decided to experiment with not wearing makeup everyday and see how it would make me feel. I wrote an entire blog post on the experience (read here) and long story short, I loved it. Not wearing makeup in public really made me love my skin again. I started to slowly regain the confidence I had lost after years and years of dealing with acne. I ended that blog post by wondering if this was just a short-term change or if I could easily go days without makeup in the future. Well, here is future Taylor now and I can happily confirm that I still go many days without makeup and I’m loving it!

So, why am I telling you this? Well, on the days when I do want to wear makeup, the last thing I want to wear is a thick, cakey, heavy foundation. I can no longer stand wearing anything heavy on my skin. Even a lightweight concealer is often too much for me these days. And, to make matters worse, my skin is oilier than ever and let me tell ya, thick foundation and oily skin is just not a fantastic combination. It just slides right off. And so, I was on the hunt for a lightweight foundation- one that I could just quickly apply and I wouldn’t feel it on my skin all day. I wanted the most minimal coverage that just evened out my skin tone.’

After a long, long search, I finally stumbled across this Eau De Teint by Chanel (mine is in the shade Light). The Chanel Les Beiges Eau De Teint ($85CAD/$65USD) is described as a water-fresh tint that is composed of 75% water. I know, I know, we’re basically just spending $85 for water but hey, it’s certainly worth it. It’s a super cool formula that is comprised of these micro-droplets of encapsulated pigments suspended in water. Then, once you pump it out and blend it in with the included brush, it melts into the skin creating this bare-skin effect. It also has smoothing and blurring properties while the sheer coverage still allows your skin’s texture to show through. And, because it’s composed of 75% water, this tint gives an instant splash of freshness and 8 hours of hydration.

This tint really can’t be called a foundation or anything close to it. It gives off extremely sheer coverage but that was exactly what I was looking for. It’s so sheer in fact, you can even apply this tint all over your face as a primer before following with foundation. Or, it’s recommended that you can lightly apply the formula over foundation any time of day to refresh and hydrate your face. And so, while I just like to use this tint in place of a foundation, it might hold a place in your makeup routine even if you like a more full coverage look!
