When I think of iconic lip liners, my mind immediately jumps to MAC lip pencils. These are truly the it girls of lip liners. I remember being fifteen and watching countless girls on Youtube showing off their MAC hauls and I could only dream of the day that I would have my own matching MAC lip liner and lipstick duo.
Well, that day has finally come. Believe it or not, these are my very first MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencils. Hey, better late than never right? I got them in two very iconic shades: Ruby Woo and Cork ($30CAD each). I swear MAC has had these shades for as long as I can remember, at least since I first started wearing makeup for dance recitals when I was a wee little gal. Ruby Woo is the most perfect true red. It’s bright and matte with more of a blue undertone than a purple or pink one. Cork, on the other hand, is the most neutral of nudes. It’s described as a golden brown that also has a matte finish and has the potential to compliment so many different lip colours.
I’ve tried a lot of lip liners in my time in the makeup industry and these are definitely some of the best. They’re creamy and smooth without being too creamy. Sometimes when a lip liner is too creamy, you don’t get that sharp line and definition with it, which almost defeats the purpose of using a lip liner in the first place. But these ones are just creamy enough so they glide along the lip line without pulling or skipping but also feel really comfortable on the lip. They are also incredibly pigmented so you don’t have to draw along the lip multiple times. It just takes one swipe of the pencil to get the perfect outline of your lips. And finally, they’re long lasting. They help to keep any lipstick or lip product from bleeding and can outlast any eating or drinking. I told you, these liners are truly some of the best!
