Vegamour Gro Dry Shampoo review

You know what the best feeling is? It’s when you find something in the beauty industry that is done so right. Maybe that’s a really specific feeling to describe, but after blogging for almost fifteen years now, it’s a rare one. To tell you the truth, there are very few beauty launches that impress me anymore. But, luckily, Vegamour’s entrance into Canada was one of those things. This is the GRO collection by Vegamour. GRO stands for Growth Without Compromise and the entire lineup does just that. It helps to strengthen your hair to make it thicker and fuller looking and for someone with fine hair, I need just that! And although that is definitely one perk of the line, there are so many other things I love about the products and I can’t wait to tell you all about them!

Let’s talk about the shampoo and conditioner first as that is the foundation of any haircare line. The Revitalizing Shampoo ($65CAD/$48USD) cleanses and removes buildup while strengthening the hair to reduce breakage. The Revitalizing Conditioner ($65CAD/$48USD) also helps to strengthen the strands, while also softening, nourishing and adding shine to the hair. But the real star of the show is the scent of these two products. You know that Satsuma Orange Body Butter scent from The Body Shop? Real specific, but if you know, you know. It’s the most delicious fragrant orange scent that has some tang and some sweetness and some punch and it’s perfect. And that’s exactly what this shampoo and conditioner smells like. It’s described on Sephora’s website as a fresh, citrusy blend with soft floral undertones and I guess that’s a little bit more accurate than my description. But what I’m trying to say is that the scent is amazing and lingers on your hair for days and I’m obsessed.

But, there is so much more to the line than just the Revitalizing Shampoo and Conditioner. Next up is the GRO Scalp Detoxifying Serum ($57CAD/$42USD). This serum is something that should be part of everyone’s haircare routine. It is formulated with a vegan silk protein called b-SILK that helps to remove any scalp buildup while also soothing any scalp damage. It forms a semi-permeable barrier to lock in moisture and protects the scalp from harmful environmental pollutants. At the same time, Zinc PCA (a skin-conditioning ingredient derived from zinc) is helping to absorb excess oils while reducing scalp irritation. This is also a great product to use if you are experiencing any visible dandruff symptoms as it helps to eliminate any dry scalp flakes (especially helpful in these dry Albertan winters). All you have to do is massage the serum on to your dry scalp (with the Vegamour GRO Scalp Massager ($24.50CAD/$18USD)) and leave on for five to ten minutes before hopping in your shower and following with your normal hair care routine.

Speaking of absorbing excess oils, there is also a wonderful Dry Shampoo ($49CAD/$36USD) in the GRO collection. Having fine hair and a more sensitive scalp, I try to avoid using dry shampoo as much as I can. However, this Vegamour Gro Dry Shampoo is formulated without talc or benzene, making it safe for everyday use. But, that’s not all. It contains Red Clover, which is rich in isoflavones that act as a natural DHT blocker and therefore helps minimize hair thinning and hair loss. And of course it also does everything that a traditional dry shampoo should do. It adds texture to the hair, making it look thicker and fuller, while natural ingredients like rice starch and kaolin clay help to absorb excess oils and odors.

We’re getting near the end of the GRO hair care routine and the last product is probably one of the most important to provide thicker and fuller looking hair. It is the GRO Hair Serum ($86.50CAD/$64USD each or $223CAD/$165USD for a pack of three) and it promises to leave hair looking thicker, fuller and healthier in as soon as 90 days. However, this is one of those things that you really do have to be patient with. You’re not going to apply it and wake up the next morning with a new head of hair. Slow and steady really does win the race. So, how does it work? It uses a combination of key ingredients like turmeric, caffeine, mung bean, red clover and biotin. The turmeric increases the appearance of hair density, while the caffeine helps to stimulate the scalp and the biotin strengthens and fortifies the strands. And, like I mentioned earlier, the red clover nourishes the scalp to minimize hair thinning and hair loss. Shedding and hair fallout is reduced while hair feels and looks healthier, stronger and more resilient! The GRO Hair Serum is in a convenient dropper format so you can just apply the serum directly to the scalp and massage it in every single day. You do not rinse afterwards, but because the formula is water based, it absorbs into the scalp super quickly and will not make your hair greasy or weigh it down.

And there you have it. The GRO collection from Vegamour is truly the perfect hair care system if you ask me. It’s easy to use, smells great, feels luxurious, but also provides effective results- both short-term and long-term. What more could you ask for?
