There’s Snowplace Like Home

I was honestly starting to think I was going to survive this winter. I was coming around, pretending winter wasn’t actually that bad. After-all, here we were, already in December and temperatures hadn’t gone much past -10°C. The snow was melting, the sun was shining. Winter didn’t seem so horrible. And then it hit. Freezing temperatures turned everything to ice. And if there’s one thing I hate more than snow, it’s ice. Snow can be pretty, it can make things look more Christmas-y. But ice? It does nothing. There’s nothing good about ice. It just makes me slide and slip and fall. When I was taking these photos a couple of weeks ago, I was in desperate need of skates on that solid 2-inch thick layer of ice. I was slippin’ and slidin’ and I wasn’t happy about it. Oakley liked it tho. That happy lil’ bugger.

So I bought these boots last year on a post-Christmas sale from Zara for $10 (whaaaat) and as much as I wanted to like them, I wore them once for the outfit photos on ze blog (#ootdhere) and that was it. Not only are they incredibly uncomfortable (and have zero grip on this ice), but they are also quite the statement boot and don’t seem to match much in my wardrobe nor do I have any occasions to wear them. An over the knee leather boot with gold chains?! No occasions to wear that?! You don’t say! (Insert eye roll here). But they do look pretty in photos so I will continue to keep them around. Ugh, spoken like a true “influencer”. (Insert another eye roll here).

For the rest of my outfit, I’m wearing this sherpa jacket that is also from Zara. If someone told me I could only keep three coats in my closet to wear for winter, this would definitely make the cut. It’s so cozy and warm but it also looks like I put a ton of effort into my outfit (plot twist: I didn’t). And the cool leather accents give it a little something different from the ever-so-popular teddy bear sherpa coats. Because I ain’t no basic white girl (another plot twist: I am).
