We’re on a roll with these makeup posts lately! Not that I would have it any other way. Makeup is one of my favourite things to talk about after all. And today’s makeup post is even more exciting because it’s all about Winky Lux makeup! I’ve actually known about the Winky Lux brand for years and years now- their cutesy and whimsical packaging has always captured my eye. But this is actually my first time trying their products. They just launched in select Shoppers Drug Mart stores across Canada, so now it’s super easy for us Canadians to get our hands on their makeup! Yay Canada!
I feel like Winky Lux is most well-known for their pH colour changing lip balms, so let’s start with talking about this gorgeous Pink Opal Balm ($26CAD/$18USD) first! I love a colour changing balm- I find they always transform into the perfect pink shade that complements your exact skin tone and this one is no exception! This Pink Opal Balm slowly adjusts to your skin’s most flattering golden pink and is also packed with ceramides and jojoba oil to keep your lips soft and hydrated. And although it looks super glittery and sparkly in the tube, it’s a much more subtle glossy shimmer on the lips, which is always preferred. Oh, and the best part? It has a soft vanilla raspberry scent. Yum!!
Okay, now on to some of Winky Lux’s cheek products! Their Cheeky Rose lineup is such a cute collection of products. I got to try out a blush, bronzer, and highlighter, and they pair so well together. They all feature the same dome-tip sponge application for precision. I love to dot them along my cheek bones and then blend out with a fluffy brush for a seamless finish. Quick, easy, yet precise. The Winky Lux Cheeky Rose blush ($29CAD/$20USD) in Lovely is quickly becoming one of my favourite blushes. It’s a soft cool-toned pink that blends out effortlessly. The Cheeky Rose Liquid Sculpt ($29CAD/$20USD) is a wonderful bronzer and contour. I got mine in the lightest shade, Amalfi, which is a lovely light neutral bronze that doesn’t pull too warm or muddy. And then the Winky Lux Cheeky Rose Liquid Highlight ($29CAD/$20USD) completes the whole cheek look in the shade Pink Opal. Because my skin tone tends to lean so pink and cool-toned, a pink shifted highlight is always my go-to! All three Cheeky Rose products are also infused with calendula oil and evening primrose extract, which help keep the skin hydrated while wearing them.
The last product I’m going to talk about today is the Winky Lux Peeper Perfect Under-Eye Concealer ($27CAD/$19USD). Throughout this past year, I’ve been looking for a new concealer for my wedding day. I wanted something high coverage yet lightweight and easy to blend. And I think this Peeper Perfect Concealer might just fit the bill. It’s super creamy and packed with collagen, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and vitamin E. It definitely has a more dewy finish, so it’s not going to look cakey and dry. You just might want to set it with a good loose powder so it doesn’t settle into fine lines throughout the day. The shade selection is also impressive. I got the lightest shade- Very Fair– and I find it’s light enough to be super brightening for my under-eyes. Being as pale as I am, that’s sometimes easier said than done.
And there we have it! My first impressions of Winky Lux makeup! The brand definitely lives up to its reputation for fun packaging, but the formulas themselves are also super wearable and skincare-infused.
