The Ghost of Black Friday Past

I’m in the middle of Finals week and guys, this has been one long week. But in five days, I’ll be done and all this studying will (hopefully) be worth it. So, I took a break from studying to write this post. I’m desperately trying to relax from all the stress of accounting so I slapped a face mask on. I don’t know what it is about studying, but my skin sure hates it. As if my life doesn’t suck enough, my face always decides now is the perfect time to start breaking out. But, for a couple of minutes, let’s just pretend school and studying and exams don’t exist and that clothes are the biggest priority in my life.

So, about three weeks ago, I was feeling pretty proud of myself. Why you might ask? I hadn’t been shopping in probably six months. Yes, I bought a couple of things online, but it was definitely nothing outrageous. I thought I had finally tamed my shopping obsession. But then Black Friday hit and everything went downhill. I don’t know if it was the stress of school or I was just finally finding really cute clothes, but I decided that it was the time to buy everything. But, with that being said, although I might have gone a bit crazy and spend (a lot) more money than I would have liked, everything I bought I’m absolutely in love with.

So I have this new motto (?) about clothes. If it doesn’t excite you tremendously in store, then it’s definitely not going to excite you when you bring it home and try to wear it ten times. So, unless I’m jumping up and down about an item, it’s not going to come home with me! I had such a bad habit of buying things just because it was a basic (that I probably didn’t need) or because it was on sale or just because I felt like buying something. Now, I make a more mature (HA, Taylor, don’t joke about that), responsible decision and only buy it if I absolutely love it. Now, on to the outfit!

I bought both this leather jacket and boots from Zara on Black Friday. Zara is always a MVP when it comes to Black Friday sales. Every year, they do 30% off the whole store. It’s a lovely, lovely time. So, I always take opportunity to buy the things that I have been lusting over for the past couple of months. And one of those things definitely included these boots. I had actually bought these boots in September for $80, but I returned them after seeing my bank account statement because I’m a broke college student (but also because I booked a trip to Vegas and let’s be honest, Vegas > Boots). BUT THEN, plot twist. These boots went on sale for $49.99 and so then on Black Friday, they were an additional 30% off. So how could I pass up a $35 pair of boots? I can’t. It was fate.

And now onto my new prized possession. This leather jacket! I have been wanting an leather jacket for so long, but I never found one that screamed my name. I had a pretty specific picture in my mind and when I saw this one in store, it definitely captured that image. It’s slightly oversized. I’m wearing a sweater underneath today so it definitely doesn’t look oversized, but if you’re wearing just a tee, it fits a lil’ looser. Because if there’s one thing I hate, it’s tight leather jackets. I don’t know why. Just the thought of them makes me shiver. I also love the belt around the bottom. For some reason, the belts on jackets are always a selling factor. I don’t know, man.
