A couple of months ago (maybe more like a year ago), Shoppers welcomed a new brand, Joe Fresh, to their directory as they were brought out by Loblaws. Before this, I had only really tried Joe Fresh’s nail polishes at Superstore so I had no idea what to expect with their other cosmetics. Spoiler Alert: their blushes are AMAZING. Hydrangea is a gorgeous shade. However, this review today isn’t about the blushes. Instead I will be discussing the Joe Fresh lip products!
Long Wear Lip Veil
I had no idea what to expect with a lip veil. At first, I thought it would be super sheer but then how would that differ from a lip gloss? And what makes it more long wearing? Don’t worry, I have some answers for you all. First, the lip veil is more pigmented than the lip gloss with less gloss (duh) and more of a cream finish. Second, I don’t really find it long wearing personally. But the colour is gorgeous! Mine is in the shade Rose and it’s the perfect cool toned mauvey pink. It’s a great neutral lip colour. I love keeping this one in my purse because I know it will match any makeup look!
Lip Gloss
I’m just going to come right out and say it. These were disappointing. And by disappointing, I mean I absolutely hate them. They are comprised of everything I dislike about lip glosses. They are sheer, sticky, gloopy and just not something I want to wear on my lips. Sorry Joe Fresh but you need to stick with just the Lip Veils. The two I picked up are in the shades Kiss (a pale pink) and Sugar Plum (frosty fuchsia)- pretty in the bottle, not so pretty on the lips.
Lip Crème
First of all, I love that this is called a lip crème instead of a just a lip cream. How much better does crème sound?! I’m so posh. But seriously, this lip crème is amazing. At first I thought it might be like a liquid lipstick, but instead of drying fully, it dries more like the Hard Candy Velvet Mousse or the Revlon Ultra HD lip colors (which I love!). It’s still a matte finish but it’s super hydrating! Plus this bright pink shade, Candy, is so pretty! It’s fully opaque and doesn’t get streaky which is my pet peeve with these liquid lipsticks.
