I had planned for this post to go up right when the foundation launched FOUR months ago, but as usual, life got in the way so I am now just getting around to writing it. Better late than never right?! So if I’m being completely honest (which I always am on ze blog), I have not been impressed with Benefit lately. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a multitude of their products, including their brow products, blushes and concealers. But sometimes, I find they try to get a little too creative with their products and they become total duds like their eyeshadowsand gel eyeliner. Sorry Benefit but y’all know it’s true!!
However, there’s only a limited amount of hate in this post because luckily, I love this foundation! When they first launched it and news of it hit me, I didn’t think I was going to like it because let’s face it, their foundations have not been a hit in the past. But this one is something different. The Hello Happy foundation($29USD/$38CAD)is a lightweight foundation wth light to medium coverage and contains SPF15 which is always an added bonus! While this foundation does seemingly have a limited shade range with only twelve shades, Benefit has said that each of the shades match a variety of different skintones so there shouldbe a shade for everyone. I am as pale as people come so I automatically reached for the shade #1 and surprisingly, it is light enough for me. Usually, most foundations I try in the lightest shade are a tad dark for me. That’s how pale I am. It’s unfortunate. But Benefit’s Hello Happy foundation’s light shade was actually a true match. So already, I like this foundation better than most.
I especially love that it’s solightweight. It reminds me of the Guerlain Aqua Nude foundation (review here) which is actually me favorite foundation on the market right now. So the fact that this one is very comparable dupe for it says a lot! It’s a very liquidy, watery foundation so it blends effortlessly onto the skin without feeling like you’re wearing any makeup. And even thought it does have just light to medium coverage, I find that’s all I need because it has soft-focus optical blurring spheres that even out the skintone and blurs imperfections! It’s perfect for creating that“no-makeup” makeup look.
There’s just one last thing I should mention about this foundation but I am not sure if it’s entirely true so I will keep you posted on further updates. But I find I breakout from this foundation. I do have incredibly sensitive, acne-prone skin that has been a struggle to control throughout the years so it could be a total coincidence that I breakout when I wear this foundation. However, my friend, Niki (#NIKISHOPPERS) has also noticed the same thing. So when you try out this foundation, take all that with a grain of salt!
