Ahhhh yes, the infamous Chanel bronzer. I’m sure you are all well aware that this is a cult favorite of any beauty guru and/or YouTuber. It has been talked about constantly and has repeatedly secured its number one spot on all of the best of the best bronzer lists for years and years. And yet, despite all the hype, I am just getting around to trying it now. But hey, better late than never, right? That should really become the tagline of my blog. I say it way too much on here because every post has inevitably gotten delayed at one point or another due to the craziness of my life currently. Anyways, let’s concentrate on the positive and appreciate the fact that this post has finally made it to ze blog! Yay me!
So this is the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream in the shade #390 Soleil Tan Bronze Universel ($60CAD/$50USD). Like any other high-end beauty brand, it has a heck of a long name. I think it should just be called the Chanel Bronzer but hey, maybe that’s just me. So as the name suggests, this is supposed to be a universal shade. Up until this previous summer, it only came in this one shade. However, I am pleased to announce that Chanel did come out with a new, darker shade, Soleil Tan Deep Bronze, because I think it was pretty obvious to everyone that this OG shade was indeed far from universal. Here’s hoping that Chanel will come out with even more shades of this bronzer so everyone can be able to wear it! Fingers crossed, Chanel, fingers crossed.
What first attracted me to this bronzer was the fact that it’s a cream bronzer. I was really lacking any sort of cream bronzer in my collection and come to think about it, there’s really not that many available on the market. I had recently converted to wearing majority of cream products on my face (cream blush, cream highlighter, etc) so I figured a cream bronzer would fit in perfectly with that routine. This bronzer has a lightweight, cream-gel formula that gives a velvety matte finish. There is no sheen or shimmer incorporated (but side note, how beautiful would this be if it was more of a glowy finish?! UGH, we need). And although it is a cream formulation, it applies like a powder and looks like a powder on the face. It contains mineral waxes and powders to ensure an even and flawless application while silica and soft-focus powder smooth the skin. In addition light-reflecting pigments are designed to create a natural-looking radiance although I would have to admit I can quite see any sort of glow.
So what are my overall thoughts about this bronzer? I like it, that’s for sure. It’s easy to apply, it smells nice (kind of like baby powder) and it’s a nice shade for my pale skin that gives it some oomph without looking too dark or muddy. However, it is a pricey bronzer, I’m not gonna lie. Is this bronzer worth the $60CAD/$50USD price tag? I’m not entirely sold on that. But like any luxury beauty product, sometimes it’s not just about how great the formula is. It’s also about the experience using it and how it makes me feel. And I don’t regret buying it. So I think that means I like it. A lot.
