December Style Wishlist

December Style Wishlist

Back in the day (circa 2014), when my blog was in it’s youth, I would write/curate these Style Wishlist posts. Essentially, these posts featured four to five different styles that I was hoping to purchase in the coming months. When I started writing these specific posts, I was 18 and just entering undergrad. You can imagine I did not have a lot of excess money to be buying clothes and so, I really had to make my dollar stretch far and be very conscious about what I was spending my money on. These Style Wishlists helped me narrow down exactly what clothes I wanted to be buying instead of making impulse purchases.

Somewhere throughout the years, I stopped making those posts and moved on to featuring more outfit of the days showing my latest clothing obsessions. But, as Black Friday and Cyber Monday rolled around this year, it got me thinking that these posts were actually a very good way of limiting me to only buying what I need I’ve really been eyeing instead of just buying something because it’s on sale or because it’s kind of cute. And so, I think every so often, I will start writing these Style Wishlist posts again. Not every month like I used to, but just every once in a while when inspirations strikes.

1 . Striped Sweater (my favorite one)

I love stripes. It’s really a problem at this point. I go through these hyperfixations every once in a while where I just absolutely love something. A couple years ago, it was mustard yellow (I’m sure you all remember that phase), last year, it was everything to do with cows (I still love cows), and now, it’s stripes. I just love that stripes have the power to turn a regular sweater into something a little more interesting, a little more preppy, a little more fun. And combined with the striped pattern, I want a knit that is dense, features a mockneck or a turtleneck, and has a boxy, oversized fit without being too long in the body. Is that too much to ask?

2. Metallic Silver Bag

As the holidays approach, I have been thinking more and more about how a little metallic silver bag would just elevate all of my outfits. It’s so fun and blingy, yet still simple and practical and adds that much needed *pop*. The problem, however, is finding the perfect one. I saw some at Zara and Oak and Fort but I don’t know if either one fits exactly what I’m looking for.

3. Knee High Leather Boot

This is probably the most-needed item on this whole list. I have been searching for the perfect pair of knee-high leather boots and they have proven to not be an easy find. It’s funny- I was showing my friend an option the other day and she said how they looked exactly like those Steve Madden boots everyone used to wear in junior high. Everything really does come full circle y’all. Trends always repeat themselves every decade.

4. Denim Wrap Skort (my favorite one)

Now, I know a denim skort isn’t the most wintery fashion item. And here in Edmonton, I can promise you, you won’t catch me wearing one in -40. But, I’m looking ahead to next summer already (and dreaming of the warm weather to come), and I feel like a dark denim skort is just what I need. Pair it with a t-shirt and sneakers and you got an outfit. I like the sounds of that.

5. Veja Sneaker

I have wanted a pair of sneakers from Veja (do I know how to pronounce the brand? That’s a no from me) for years now. They just seem like the most versatile and practical sneaker that would go with every outfit. What can I say- I just love a good plain white sneaker (that I will inevitably get dirty within the first couple of times wearing it). So, will this be the year that I buy a pair? Stay tuned to ze blog to find out.

Invest in a few pairs of fleece lined tights. That’s how I wear skirts in the winter. You can wear the denim miniskirt with them so you don’t have to wait until summer
