Well, guys. It’s January. January, without a doubt, has to be my least favorite month. Everything is gloomy and cold. The magic of Christmas has disappeared. There’s no more twinkly lights or jingling carols. All we’re left with is dirty old snow. Wow, I sound really bitter. Who invited Negative Nancy to the party? But I can’t help it. I just don’t like January. Is that such a crime? If it is, just throw me in jail. I accept all responsibility for my hatred of January.
It’s been a long time since I ventured outdoors to shoot an outfit post. It’s not that I’ve been in a clothing slump per se. It’s more that my outfits getting really boring around this January time every year. It’s too cold to wear a cute wool jacket and it’s too slippery to wear any sort of footwear other than Uggs. I so badly miss all my lil’ booties and sneakers but alas, I’d rather be unstylish than slipping on the ice and ending up with a broken leg. That’s just not a sacrifice I’m willing to make. And so, my outfits have been really boring lately. But, spring is just around the corner (hopefully) so that means my cuter outfits are just a couple months away. Hold out hope for that.
So I know that i’ve gone on and on about how boring my January outfits tend to be but this outfit today is far from boring. Okay it’s a little boring but you know what definitely isn’t boring? My new Super Puff from Aritzia. I have been wanting this Super Puff for months and months and months. It’s the Silent Storm Green shade AKA a true pistachio. Are we really surprised that I now have a pistachio Super Puff? I just needed it to match every other pistachio thing I have in my life (which is a lot and it’s beginning to concern me). I haven’t shown it a ton on ze blog but I do also have a long Super Puff in the Dark Shadow colour (a dark teal-y green) (see it here), but although it’s warm and cozy and feels like you have a sleeping bag wrapped around you, I wanted a shorter Super Puff for more everyday wear. This is the Original length and hits just below my hips and bum- much better suited for all the skating I’ve been doing. It’s rated for -30°C (-22°F) weather with 700+ responsibly sourced Goose Down Fill and is made from matte, water-repellent and wind-resistant Japanese fabric. It’s the perfect Edmonton/Alberta/Canadian winter coat. Every true Edmontonian needs one.
Now, I must admit the rest of my outfit is boring so I’m not going to spend much time talking about it. It’s just a cream mock neck sweater from Forever 21 (R.I.P) with black Citizens of Humanity Chrissy jeans and my beloved Sorel boots that keep my feet warm and cozy all winter long. But the highlight of my outfit (aside from my pistachio Super Puff) is this pistachio face mask. I really should start talking about my favorite face masks more on ze blog seeing as I wear them every single day. Maybe I will do a whole blog post dedicated to my most-worn face masks. Remind me to do that. Anyways, this is the Contour Face Mask in the petite size from Aritzia and it’s in the same Silent Storm Green shade as my Super Puff. Are you really surprised? Nope, I didn’t think so. I love this mask. It’s a two-layer mask made with this super stretchy, super lightweight nylon/spandex blend with contour face seams and adjustable elastic ear straps. I love how soft this one is against my face! It doesn’t irritate my skin at all! Hallelujah.
