Well folks, it’s 2022 and we’re ringing in the new year with one of my favorite posts to write: a cream blush review! There’s really no better way to celebrate. And today’s cream blush review is an especially exciting one for two reasons. First, this set is the very first thing I’ve ever tried from Rare Beauty, which is honestly quite surprising (especially since I’m such a Selena Gomez fan!). Selena Gomez launched the brand back in September 2020, almost a year and a half ago and yet I’m just getting around to trying the brand now?? I’m really off my beauty game recently. And the second reason for all this excitement is that it’s a limited edition set of mini blushes. I absolutely lose my mind over all of the seasonal sets that come out around the holidays. It’s truly the little things that are keeping me going at this point.

And so, without further ado, this is the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Blush Trio ($25USD/$30CAD). It contains three of the Rare Beauty Liquid Blushes all in a cute miniature size! In this set, there’s two different formulations of the Rare Beauty liquid blushes. The first is a matte liquid blush and the second is a dewy finish. When the Rare Beauty liquid blushes were first launched, I thought I would love the dewy finish so much more than the matte. But, spoiler alert, I was wrong and that’s why I’m so happy I was able to try them all out in mini sizes first before I bought a full-size one.

The one matte shade in this set is actually Rare Beauty’s best seller. It’s called Bliss and it’s the most perfect matte nude pink. It blends out effortlessly and feels like nothing on your skin. It’s a really cool texture. And although it’s matte, it’s not matte in the sense that it’s super flat or drying. It still gives your skin a really nice radiance without looking glossy or dewy. It’s honestly one of the best liquid blushes I’ve tried in a really long time. The other two dewy shades are nice as well, don’t get me wrong. But they’re nothing compared to the matte formula. However, with that being said, they’re actually exclusive to the set so that’s pretty fun! The first shade is Hope which is a dewy nude mauve, slightly darker than Bliss. And then there is Peace which is such a pretty soft apricot. I found that the dewy shades were a little too tacky (read: sticky) for my liking and didn’t blend out as nicely as the matte formula. And, if you’re not careful, I found it had a tendency to shift around my foundation underneath.

But, with all that being said, I’m really happy with this trio of blushes overall. They’re super long lasting and stay on my face all day. They’re also made with a special blend of lotus, gardenia, and white water lily as well as vitamin E so they never look drying or cakey on your cheeks. And best of all, they have incredible pigmentation so you need the tiniest amount for the entirety of both of your cheeks. I dab the smallest amount to the back of my hand and then swirl a blush brush (The Dior #16 Backstage Blush Brush is my all time fave) and it’s more than enough product for my face! I honestly wish all of the Rare Beauty liquid blushes were available in this size because I can’t imagine ever using up a full-size one ($20USD/$26CAD), even if I was to use it every single day. And so, if you’ve been debating trying out these blushes, I would definitely recommend picking up this set while you still can!
