So, many of you might not know this because I really haven’t talked much about my MBA journey lately on ze blog, but I am graduating in THREE days time. In just 72 hours, I will be the proud recipient of a Master’s of Business Administration degree. Insane, I know. It’s been an incredibly challenging two years but I am so excited and happy to have accomplished what I did. I had my very last class two months ago where I did my final presentation and handed in my final paper. It was a relief to say the least. And to celebrate, my sweet boyfriend spoiled me with the most wonderful graduation gift- this perfume.
Now, this isn’t just any ordinary perfume. Definitely not. This is the Louis Vuitton Attrape-Rêves ($350CAD/100ml) fragrance. Working in cosmetics for seven years and running this blog for ten years, I’ve accumulated quite the collection of perfumes (see some of my faves here and here) and although there’s certainly quite a few I love, I’ve never really found the Taylor perfume. I always wanted a signature scent- one I could wear every single day and people would smell me and just know that that is me. Well, this scent is that.
It happened on my trip to Vancouver with my besties. My friend, Erin, was spraying a sample of this perfume and I just instantly knew it was the best thing I have ever, and will ever, smell. I am so bad at describing scents, but just let me try my best. It’s definitely a sweet and fruity scent with a light floral element. Really descriptive, hey? It contains cocoa, peony accord, litchi accord, patchouli heart, turkish rose absolute, ginger and bergamot. The cocoa definitely sweetens the scent while the litchi adds a fresh fruitiness to the perfume. And finally, the rose and peony round it all out and make it the perfect feminine fragrance.
On the Louis Vuitton website, the description of the perfume is as follows:
Cocoa as airy-light as a wondrous journey somewhere between dream and reality. Like the Northern Lights appearing out of nowhere, Attrape-Rêves is the fragrant embodiment of supernatural phenomena forever embedded in the memory of some far-flung exploration. Inspired by such waking dreams, the Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud imagines a trail like a shower of shooting stars, where raw cocoa powder mingles with a bouquet of peonies. Then comes the patchouli heart, enlivened by litchi’s fresh and sparkling notes.A festive fragrance in celebration of wonderment.
And although a lot of that description is buzz words designed to make you feel like this perfume is so much more special than it is (and maybe convince you it’s worth $350), what I take away from that quote is the word “sparkling”. I don’t quite know why but sparkling is the best way to sum up this perfume. It has such a feminine lightness to it but with sparkling touches embedded in it. It’s truly the most magical fragrance and I hope that I really be reminded of this huge accomplishment everytime I wear it. Oh, and did you notice my initials engraved on it? It’s the little things, y’all.
