I’ve said it before and I will say it again. Alberta’s climate SUCKS. If you’ve ever wanted to live in a prairie with absolutely zero moisture in the air, Edmonton is the city for you. It seems no matter how many essences, serums and creams I layer on my face, my skin always feels dry and dehydrated. It’s always longing for that glass of water to quench it’s thirst.
As I mentioned before in my Vichy Mineral 89 post, I have some dehydration lines around my mouth (smile line area) and my eyes. For the longest time, I thought these were wrinkles but nope! Just dehydration lines. And although any sort of crease or indent in you skin isn’t cute, dehydration lines are definitely one of the easier ones to fix. But, in order to fix them, you need some damn good products.
Luckily, Vichy has got our backs in this situation. They recently revamped their Aqualia Thermal line. This line promotes rehydrated skin and smoothed fine lines. It now offers 48 hour hydrations under any condition! So regardless of if you’re experiencing extreme weather, stress or pollution, your skin is going to stay hydrated for 48 hours without fail. So here in Alberta, with extreme dryness in the air, you better bet this line will keep my skin hydrated for two whole days.
I got to try the Aqualia Thermal Serum as well as the Light Cream. The serumuses 97% naturally-derived ingredients, including my favorite Hyaluronic Acid, fortifying Vichy mineralizing water (that is also the main ingredient in my beloved Mineral 89 Booster), and plant sugar mannose. When I apply this serum to my face, it feels like I just drank a gallon of water. My skin looks so dewy and glowing! The Aqualia Thermal cream comes in three different formulas: the Water Gel for combination/oily skin, the Light Cream for normal/combination skin and the Rich Cream for Dry/Very Dry skin! I got to try out the Light Cream and although, like it’s name would suggest, it is a very lightweight cream, I felt it did provide a more than adequate amount of moisture and hydration to my skin.
In addition to helping my severely dehydrated skin, I also love that the Aqualia Thermal line resists 15°C thermic shock. This means that every time you go from 30°C weather outside to an air-conditioned store, you skin goes through a shock and loses a ton of water and your skin barrier is greatly weakened. This line helps to prevent that greatly by strengthening that barrier and making sure the moisture is kept in your skin. I work in an air conditioned environment everyday so it’s especially important to use a product like this!
